Glossary of Terms / Index
Below you will find a growing Glossary of terms specific to the Zensunni Bardo Path. Each entry has the following: 1) the common English term; 2) its ZB equivalent; and, 3) its pronunciation, using the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA).
These new terms will be introduced through blog entries, descriptions of artworks, or general discussions—all dependent on how ZBs evolve. Think of this as a “summary” recording of that evolution.
Plans are in place to implement more robust indexing—allowing seamless movement between this Glossary and core entries.
Blogging — BardScrios [ /bɑrd'skri.os/ ]; noun & verb : In the ZB language, certain terms are valued highly enough that they lose any previous distinctions of noun, verb, or modifier. Seen through this lens, BardScrios would be interpreted as “one that actively seeks to investigate, explore, and honour the wonders of an expanding Universe, followed by sharing that experience with others”. While the experience is important, it is the action of sharing that distinguishes a BardScrios.
Creation — Lúmethor [ /ˈluː.me.θor/ ]; (proper) noun & verb : The act of creating something new, regardless of its form or function. In ZB, the proper (capitalized) form is used when referring to creation as the act of a highly revered entity: social leader, person of legend or myth, deity, etc. Lúmethor, and its opposite force (Theljúmethor) are each foundation pillars of the ZB Path.
Anti-Creation — Theljúmethor [ /θel'ˈʤuː.me.θor/ ]; (proper) noun & verb : Literally, the opposite to “Lúmethor“. It is not simply an act of destruction; rather it is the intentional act of negating the existence of something / someone. The act of “Theljúmethor” carries the weight and responsibility of removing something from the Universe.
Virtue — Arêtephos [ /ɑˈɾe.te.fos/ ]; (proper noun) : An intrinsic quality, behavior, or value that actively contributes to the phenomena of Lúmethor (Creation). Unlike traditional notions of virtue, which often remain static and prescribed, Arêtephos is a dynamic concept within the ZB philosophy. It embodies a sort of 'moral creativity'—an ability to constantly evolve in response to new experiences and understandings. Its pursuit is a lifelong journey that intertwines with one's BardScrios endeavors, shaping and being shaped by the act of sharing and dialogue.
Answer Precedes Question — Qhreestal BardScriban [ /qʰɾiːs.tɑl bɑrd'skri.bæn/ ]; always a Proper Noun, principle : In ZB philosophy, this is the guiding tenet that states answers are not distant goals but intrinsic parts of our existence, waiting to be revealed. It disrupts conventional wisdom that posits questions must come first, urging instead that understanding—or even the question itself—often emerges from the answers we already hold.
