"Sandtrout Threatened"

from US$150.00

“When Paul Muad’Dib Atreides took his first confident steps on the hot sands of Arrakis, we must ask whether he had any prophetic warnings about the Legacy that his family would leave in its path? We know, from the Official Histories, that he had seen the face of his beloved Chani prior to the visit from the disgraced Mother Superior Mohiam. But…was he “pre-aware” of the life-cycles that his family would disrupt? I do not speak of the vaunted Fremen that Muad’Dib used to create his army. I speak of the life-cycle of Sandtrout —> Sandworm —> Spice —> Sandtrout. It is widely believed that these new Sandtrout (post the “death” of God Emperor Leto II) are aware of their place in the planet’s life; we must question whether their ancestors were also aware!” [Redacted Guild Planetologist Report : author unknown, c 14500 AG]

We spend the majority of our lives being shaped, affected, and tested by circumstances that are often beyond our immediate control. As we mature, we learn to identify those events we can and cannot control; how we choose to exercise that control is…in our control. However, I ask this question:

Is our “sandtrout” child self truly unaware of what we will eventually have control of?

Stated another way, we might question whether our “learned” responses to threats, fear, love, and connection are no more or less than refinement of tools that we’ve always had. If that is so, then it is paramount that we are taught to refine those tools in ways that benefit our lives.

If nothing else, the lives of the Atreides Dynasty have shown us that lessons always have consequences.

I invite you to own this original painting as a reminder of those lessons.
