"Shai Halud" — Desert God

from US$36.00
"Embrace the wonder & majesty of Shai Halud : Desert God to the Fremen, demon for those unprepared, and source of the Spice Melange. This reconstruction is from a shattered mural found deep in the southern desert of Arrakis." — [Planetologist Report: circa 15,500 AG]

I discovered the vast DUNE saga as a teen, and was immediately drawn to the multi-faceted perception of the "Great Sandworms" on the planet Arrakis (aka Dune). Fremen residents of Arrakis saw them as their God incarnate, while others either feared them or were unaware of their importance. I soon began to see them as something more personal to who I was, and, more importantly who I hoped to be. They were neither God nor demon, not feared, and definitely not to be ignored.

I see in Shai Halud an analogy for who I have always dreamt of becoming. I honour the great strength of Purpose, the connection between this "creature" and those that depend on them, and the loving dignity that is offered and shared. I've maintained that sense of "becoming" throughout the decades since.

I invite you to share in the mystery that is DUNE. Be your very own Shai Halud offering Purpose, connection, and dignity to yourself. Honour yourself today.
